What tools are needed to handle the material?
Scissors or cutter knives, ruler or measuring tape, pencil and plastic scraper. A scraper is a spatula made of hard rubber and can be purchased in a crafts store or a hardware store. Or, you can request one from us. What type of surface can the sheets be applied to?
The surface should be even, free of dust and grease; untreated wood (chipboard, plywood) should be pre-treated with a base coat (sealing primer / acyrlic base). What is the correct way of cutting the sheets?
Using a ruler and a pencil, any desired form can be pre-sketched on the back paper and can then be cut along those lines. The grid arrangement is a great help for this. If you want to achieve precise edge terminations, you should always cut an overlap of about 4 mm. The overlapping edges can later be cut off with a sharp knife (cutter). How can I avoid creating bubbles when applying the sheets?
The best way to do it is to remove only a part of the back paper, to position the sheet and then, using a scraper or a rag, pressing the sheet from the centre of the sheet to the sides. If the sheet has been positioned incorrectly, it can be pulled off again and corrected (except if it has been applied to paper or cardboard). You can achieve the best results if you use a square wooden block that has a piece of left-over carpet wrapped around it to smooth the sheet out. The sheets are crooked, what can I do?
Not a problem, the sheet can be pulled off carefully and be re-applied (except if it was applied to paper or cardboard) - its full adhesive strength will only take effect after several hours). Bubbles! How do I get rid of them?
Prick the surface with a needle and press the air out through the hole. Can I apply sheets to round edges?
Of course! To do so, simply heat up the sheet while you are working with it with a blow dryer at the lowest level, pull it into the form desired and press it down. If the sheet is heated, te corners and edges can be pulled into place without any problems. Work carefully in this case so that the sheet is not overstretched. What should be done when the sheets don't stick to the edges?
In this case, you can use commercial super glue (please make note of the manufacturer's instructions: emollient resistant) or, iron the sheet at the lowest level (place paper between the iron and the sheet). Do the sheets stick in outdoor areas?
Yes. Depending on the weather conditions (sun, water, fog...) the film last for about one to three years, after that the colour will change and the film might become harder. How heat-resistant are the d-c-fix sheets?
The sheet can withstand temperature of up to 80°C for short periods of time. Can I work with d-c-fix sheets in damp locations?
Absolutely! If water will often be in direct contact with the sheeting edges (e.g. on the edge of a bathtub), it should be sealed with silicone / caulking. How do I remove the old self-adhesive film?
Simply begin pulling the sheet off at one corner. The sheet is especially easy to pull off when it has been heated (again, use a hair dryer in this case). Any left-over glue can be removed with an alcohol based solvent. Can I clean the d-c-fix sheets?
Yes, d-c-fix sheets can be cleaned with commercial cleaners - the best way to clean them is with warm water and dish liquid. Rub moist places dry with a soft rag. How environmentally friendly are d-c-fix sheets?
d-c-fix sheets are free of heavy metalls, lightfast in accordance to DIN EN ISO 105-B02, and are abrasion and scouring resistant as per DIN EN ISO 105-X12. Solvent-free emulsion glues are used exclusively. Even for the children's room area, d-c-fix sheets are harmless if used as intended. How do I remove the old self-adhesive film?
Simply begin pulling the sheet off at one corner. How do I apply a sheet to a glass surface (without creating bubbles)?
It's easy: first you clean the surface you want to apply the sheet to with a commercial cleaner thoroughly. After that, you spray the surface with water that has a few drops of dish liquid in it, remove the back paper from the sheet completely, and possibly also slightly spray the sheet. Lay the sheet on the watery film and move it to the desired position. Now slide out the water and the air inclusions toward the side (using a scraper or a rag). Should there be any haze in the transparent film, it will disappear at a 20 C room temperature after 10 - 13 hours. Is there a d-c-fix glass film that protects from UV radiation?
Yes, d-c-fix sun protection sheets have the effect that they repulse heat because of their metallic surface, they absorb 99% of the UV rays and only allow 20% of light through the glass pane. If the purpose is to only reduce the amount of light coming in, the tinged films offered by d-c-fix are ideal. Are there any films that protect against broken glass?
Of course! The protective sheet is made of tearproff, glass clear polyester film. On the side of the room's interior, the sheet is coated so that it is scratch- free. Should the glass break, the glass pieces are held extremely fast to the sheet, so that the glass itself won't fall apart. In addition, the sheet absorbs 99% of damaging UV rays. How can self-adhesive film be removed?
Starting at one of the corners, pull off the self-adhesive sheet. The sheet is especially easy to remove when it is warm (we recommend using a hair dryer). Any left-over glue can be removed with an alcohol-based solvent. How is the self-adhesive d-c-fix glass sheet applied?
These sheets stick entirely by themselves without using any glue. All you need to do is lightly spray the glass surface with water with a few drops of dish liquid mixed in from a spray bottle so it can slide on more easily. Then you remove the back paper from the sheet and carefully position it onto the glass surface. Water and air are brushed out towards the sides using the scraper that is included - the sheet sticks! How can a film without an adhesive stick?
The sheet sticks by way of electrostatic adhesion. The simple contact between the sheet and the even and clean glass surface is all that is needed for the sheet to stick. How can the self-adhesive film be removed?
The sheet can be removed from the glass surface easily and without leaving any residue. And what's great about it: the sheet can be re-set as often as you like and be used again. What kind of temperatures can the self-adhesive sheets withstand?
The sheets withstand temperatures between -10 up to + 50 °C without problems. Is the wall covering self-adhesive?
No, the wall covering is handled like regular wallpaper. For absorbent surfaces like for example concrete or sheetrock, commrecial wallpaper glue for heavy wallpaper can be used. For non-absorbent surfaces, such as, for example, oil or lacquer painted surfaces, commercial emulsion adhesive is used. Can the wall covering be cleaned with a wet cloth?
d-c-fix wall Ceramics is absolutely waterproof, which makes it especially easy to maintain. It can be cleaned with any light commercial cleaner. Can the wall covering be used in damp locations as well?
Using d-c-fix wall in wet rooms, such as bathrooms, can be done without any problems. However, you should especially make sure that all edges and butt seams are sealed with PVC caulking (for PVC wallpaper). This prevents moisture from seeping through. What type of subsurface do the tile stickers adhere to?
The subsurface sould be even and free of dust and grease. The best thing to do would be to first clean the subsurface with an alcoholic cleaning agent. What sizes do the tile stickers come in?
The tile stickers are available in the size 14.6 x 14.6 cm. How is the soft foam floor covering laid?
Usually, the floor covering is just laid without being fixed. When using it on larger surfaces or if you are placing numerous lengths side by side, we recommend you use two-sided tape on the edges or where the lengths join. Can I use the soft foam floor covering in wet rooms?
The floor covering is especially ideal for damp locations. Because of its special structure, d-c-fix floor Comfort is especially breathable. The humidity can condense without any problems in the rooms atmosphere. Plus, the floor covering does not slip.
